Currently most hosts understand Carbon views, so if you plan to make a
view, a Carbon one would seem to be required for largest adoption. If
you decide you want to make a Cocoa view as well, then it will not
likely see much use until more Cocoa hosts appear, but additionally to
that I would only create a Cocoa view if you feel that it would add
something above and beyond what a Carbon view would give you for those
hosts that use Cocoa views.

I would not recommend such a restrictive stance. If there is time and ability
to create a Cocoa view, then why not do it? Even if there is nothing the user
can detect, Cocoa views should be easier to develop, so that is a hidden
feature above and beyond what is possible with a Carbon view.

I didn't mean to sound restrictive, it's more along the lines of "Don't ship what you can't test" (Anyone remember that old technote?) It would probably be a good exercise to create a Cocoa view, but I wouldn't ship it for public consumption until you can test it thoroughly in a number of hosts.

Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
