Searching the archives, I see that people have asked this question
before, with no joy - is it true that Apple is not making public the
Apple Loops file format specification? And yes, I know about the
SDK, the Soundtrack Loop Utility, etc.. Those don't have any info
about the actual file format extensions to AIFF....

Approaching this from the other direction, is there any legal reason
that other people can't publish info derived from reverse engineering
the format? Where can one ask Apple about this and get a response?
Paul, I think the usual answer to this is that reverse engineering
will be considered illegal in a U.S. court of law. Especially if
you're up against Apple I would think! ;-)
Nevertheless, I would love to hear the official Apple response, and
also the strategy behind keeping this info secret. The era of close
formats is dead!
