You can install a standalone version of auval - see
developer.apple.com/audio
If your AU is not showing up, there is probably some problem with the
AU... Try just building the sample effect as it is shipped in the SDK
and see if that shows up first.

IMO Logic 7 validates the AUs at startup with auval and Logic 7

"AudioUnitHosting" doesn't work like assumed.
There is only the AU "ET1" from emagic, but not my new built
component, which I copied in the global components directory where
ET1 is stored, too. And it's not shown like described in the Apple
Introduction, but only with the UI-Look of ET1!?
Maybe this is a sideeffect of the missing auval?
My search in the list archive didn't lead to solutions for the
problems.
I would be glad, if sombody can help me.
