Un-privating MIDI Object

Say one was to make a particular MIDI Object private through use of:

 MIDIObjectSetIntegerProperty(dev, kMIDIPropertyPrivate, priv_stream); 

How would one then obtain the MIDIDeviceRef to somehow mark it unprivate?
