QTMetadata feature in QT7

In a previous thread i read this:
"Yes... the current public version of QuickTime can only read iTunes metadata, not write to it. We will be adding the ability to write to iTunes metadata in the next version of QuickTime. "
http://lists.apple.com/archives/QuickTime-API/2005/Nov/msg00032.html

That this means that is not possible with QT7 to save metadatas modifications in mp3 files or aac files? (without converting the modified metadatas movies to mp3 or AAC -- so rewriting all mp3 file).

In fact under Windows, it's not possible without getting a licence to use the AAC compression feature:
http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1347.html

I think also that it should not be a good idea to rewrite whole file, when we only want to changes metadatas...

Does someone know about this ability?
thanks in advance,
emilie
