Daniel:

I think that is probably better answered by the overall Jack team (not our specific OS X Jack development team).  You can contact that team at http://jackit.sourceforge.net .

At a high level, Jack is a combination of GPL and LGPL, and so I do not think you will have a problem if using Jack as a part of commercial software.

Interesting project. What is your view on how (if at all) this could be used  or distributed by a commercial application, without violating the spirit of the GPL as you're using it?

Andy, sorry for my late entry into this discussion -- in case you've not explored it yet, don't forget to look at Jack OS X; it's also open source, and you may be able to extend it enough to work for your application.  It works differently than Soundflower.
