I talked with the guys that do our DVD Player, and they pretty much do
what you do. If it's not working for you, the usual causes are either
that you have not correctly formed the SPDIF header for DTS or you
aren't paying attention to the endian-ness of output stream.

I have a problem regarding output of raw DTS frames over the S/PDIF
interface. I managed to output normal AC3 data by wrapping AC3
frames with an S/PDIF header according to IEC 60958-3. Works great.
But if I modify my sources to support DTS frames according to IEC
60958-5, the audio receiver remains silent. So I read in a thread
that DTS is not explicitly supported, but then on the other hand the
DVD Player seems to support DTS output. I verified everything and I
am pretty sure that the spdif packet is valid and that the endian
stuff is correct. I am using the kAudioFormat60958AC3 stream format
with the coded sampling rate of the DTS stream. Is there anything I
forgot to add when using DTS? Maybe somebody can point me in the
right direction.
