Indeed Logic doesn't yet update the name of an AU when its version
number changes.
We already have a bug logged about this and are preparing a fix.
In the meantime, you'll need to manually delete the cache like Eric
suggests.
Note that with Logic Studio the cache has changed to
com.apple.audiounits.cache
because it's now shared between Logic, WaveBurner, etc.

Component Info: Multiband Panner
while Logic 8 still displays "Parametric Panner". Other hosts, not
sure
about other versions of Logic do display "Multiband Panner". Any
ideas?
