You can't change the version number each time you make a typo, don't you think?

Yes - you should - but we may be talking about different things.

I'm talking about release semantics - the normal expectation is that every time you change something you up the version number when you release that change.

Of course, when you are developing/debugging, that's a different problem entirely, so I"m probably confusing the issue here :)

Also, I've had some problems where a symbolic link garbled the name of the AU. Changing the version number did not fix it.
Sometimes, simply deleting the cache cleans up things.

Any time you change something about your AU (even distribute a different build) - you need to change the version number of the AU.

Hi, Kevin

Logic caches the names. You'll have to remove the cache file. (com.apple.LogicAUCache.plist)

I'm testing my AU with Logic 8. I recently changed the display name, but
Logic 8 still shows the old name.

auval shows:
AudioUnit name: Multiband Panner
Component Info: Multiband Panner

while Logic 8 still displays "Parametric Panner". Other hosts, not sure
about other versions of Logic do display "Multiband Panner". Any ideas?
