The crash we were having was with malformed mp3 files, which I
believe has been fixed in 10.4.7 or 8. I can't guarantee the
accuracy of that, but my test bad file ( http://variogr.am/
clarity.mp3 ) no longer locks and crashes AU Lab or afinfo in 10.4.9.
There's also an issue with the tools not following type or creator
codes (e.g., rename file.m4a to file.mp3 -- iTunes & QT will still
play it fine but the audiofile api will break.) That's still there
and I don't know if it's scheduled to get fixed.
If we don't already, we should have a bug report for this please:
