afplay, AAC mp4 audio files

HI,

I would like to be able to play back mp4 audio files with afplay. Playback of other file formats works fine with AIFF or mp3, but I get a 'typ?' error with mp4 files.

The same files play back properly in Quicktime player or other audio software. is this a problem with the file header structure, or is there something else I need to set up before core audio can access these files?

Xcode 2.4.1, mac OS 10.4.11
