There are two standards for DTS on DVD. The original DTS is 1.5
Mbps, and is found on rare DVD titles marked "DTS" on the package.
These have unfortunately gone missing from new releases (except
they're finally back on Blu-ray). In order to avoid making both a
DTS and DD version of the same title, the bit rate was cut in half to
754 Kbps so that 5.1 DD would fit without so much video compression.
This rate is found on Superbit DVD and any modern DTS titles.
I have no idea whether it will affect your software, but be prepared
for both 1.5 Mbps and 754 Kbps. The encoder from DTS allows either
rate for DVD. Also, you might expect 1.23 Mbps from Laserdisc (LD)
or DTS Music Disc CD. Those are 44.1 kHz sampled formats which can
carry DTS and which predate DVD.

For DTS, the DVD bit rate is typically less than 1.5Mbps -- I think
it's 768Kbps. For Red Book Audio CDs they typically use the entire
1.5Mbps. Neat point about the 14-bit usage though, I thought they
were being super clever and manipulating the bitstream layout such
that it sounds more like white noise. Of course, if you use all of
the bandwidth then you don't have the bursts + zeros either so that
might mitigate the issue too.
