For this the AUVarispeed unit is ideal - it is doing exactly that
(speeding up, slowing down) the audio, changing the pitch (as a tape
player would).
If you want to also preserve pitch, or have control over both Pitch
and Play Rate, then the AUTimePitch audio unit gives you that control.
You can test these two things out by running AULab (/Developer/
Applications/Audio) and making a track with a file player audio unit
(a Generator), then add the varispeed or time pitch
