Volker,

I apologize for the delay in getting you an answer. I didn't see your question.

In order to connect an input side chain, you must have an audio input track. You need to make sure that you are creating your document with at least one input and one output track (using the same device). If you are using built-in hardware on a device such as a macbook or macbook pro, the input and output hardware are separate devices. You will need to use AudioMIDI setup to create an aggregate device that has input and output which you can then use in AU Lab.

Once you have created a document that has one input and one output track, you need to create a third track that is either a bus, or a generator (such as the fileplayer), or an instrument (well, technically, you can add the merger to the input track, but then you are just merging two inputs that are the same source). From this track, you can select AUMerger and use the audio input track as the input.

I don't know of any sample code or sidechain effect code available, but if you post to this list, I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction.

Again, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Hope this helps!

Hi!

We have developed a new audio mixing algorithm and want to implement it as an
Audio unit. Since we want to test the code in AULab, we want to support
sidechain inputs.

We are not familiar with Audio units. As a starting point, we implemented an
additional bus as advised in the "Bus Count and Usage" thread. Unfortunately
we are not able to connect the side chain in AULab because we can not assign
an audio input as input source in the "Audio Unit Sidechain Settings" dialog
(as it is suggested in the AULab help). The source selection button "Audio
input" is disabled, and "None" is the only available option. This issue also
occurs when we use the AUMerger unit.

How can we connect a track or bus to the sidechain input? We have not found a
similar issue in this list yet.

Furthermore, we would like to know if there is some example code for a mixer
or a sidechain effect available.

Thanks in advance,
Volker
