I know what you mean — I've found audio the single most difficult area
of OS X to learn and work with. Unfortunately there isn't really any
reading material beyond what you can find in the online documentation;
I have no idea why there are a bunch of Quartz graphics books but no
CoreAudio books, but that's how it is.
Also, I am wondering what the status is of coremidi/coreaudio via
java? Are you able to access these resources completely in java?
What is the suggested entry point for coreaudio and coremidi if java
is not an option anymore?
No idea, sorry; I gave up on Java in 2000. These days Ruby or Python
might be a better bet, since in OS X 10.5 there's very good support
for bridging between those languages and most of the frameworks in the
OS.
