Imagine for a moment that everyone else had a better mail client than
you, and it was therefore effortless for them to refer to the original
email trimmed from the reply. In such a situation, nobody else except
you would be complaining. And lo and behold, Q.E.D.
Except that you (like everyone else) DO include text from the email
you're responding to. There's a reason for that.

And my email client is just as capable of opening another email in the
chain as yours, thankyouverymuch. The point is... why not make it
easier for everyone to see what you're talking about WITHOUT opening
another email? This theoretical everyone you're talking about already
follow the "quote what you're referring to" rule, and they have for
years. I'm not introducing anything new here, folks.
