Hi
For those of you who were wondering what happens when one of Monoprice's
MiniDisplay Port+ USB to HDMI connectors is used to connect a MacBook Pro
to a Home Theatre amplifier, I now know the answer, having ordered one and
had to pay a hefty charge to get it through customs here in France.

It just appears in Audio Midi Setup as a "USB Sound Device" with 0in/2out
and 2ch-16bit as the only option. You can choose between 44.1 and 48Khz.
That's it.... :-(
Oh, it sounds like nice quality stereo, and the Image on my flat screen TV
looks good at 1920*1080 pixels, but I'm disappointed that the audio
interface is so uninteresting.
So, it really does look like the only people can use an HDMI interface to
output multichannel information are those with the latest iMacs. Shame...
Apple - Please can you do something to fix this limitation? HDMI based
audio communication is the future. I'm sure it's not beyond Apple's
engineers to come up with a MiniDisplay+USB -> HMDI that does it
properly....(or someone else?)
Yours hopefully....
Simon Thorpe
