I'm not sure about that, but another thing the OP might like to
consider is also targeting the iPod, if that is practical.
Perhaps someone can comment on that, I know nothing about iPhone
/ iPod development, but I would have thought that the iPod would
be an attractive platform for potential users of the product.
The audio quality on my recent model iPod touch (can't stretch
to an iPhone :) is first class.
It looks like doing DSP on the iPhone / iPod might be a bit of a
challenge. The Accelerate framework (which offers excellent
fast FFT routines, amongst other things) is missing, for
example.

Hmm, yes, there are very real and unknown problems with the
final product
that should be researched first on the phone itself.
It could all get a bit expensive and pointless otherwise.
BTW I've heard that the iPhone has quite bad quality audio, is
this true?
