So, George, the problem is that I don't know of any host apps that are properly supporting the offline audio unit.
There is an example for how to write the offline AU in our examples, but I don't know how you would then use it, given the point above.
I'd suggest you could write a bug for Logic to support offline AU processing.
Also, there are other host app developers on this list, maybe they might want to chime in about this?

What I want to do is akin to reversing the content of a file; specifically, I want to do processing that is dependent on the past and future of every point in the file (or track). At present I'm most interested in doing processing on MIDI data.
I'd like to implement this processing in an AU. To be clear, would it in fact be possible to write an AU that runs in Logic (or other standard DAW) that, say, reverses the contents of data in the track?
