This sounds overly complicated to me (no pun intended!), but maybe I
am missing something - can't you just intercept system audio and play
it back via SoundFlower just as other applications like AudioHijack
Pro do it?
First, please elaborate on "intercept system audio", because that is pretty much what I want, i.e. all system
audio (iTunes, Spotify, you name it) goes to the default output, which is what I want to intercept (in my
world by creating an audio device to be the default one), then do advanced filtering and pass it on to the
target sound device, which might be the built-in device on a MBP f.i.
Please bear with me, as I feel that Mac OS X opens up more choices doing this than Windows does (where I've done
pretty much exactly the same thing, which is, incidentally, the _only_ "blessed" way to do it) ;) , and I'm not
really Mac OS X savvy... yet...
Regarding Soundflower: Since this is for a commercial product, I won't be able to use Soundflower. Besides, being a
commercial product, you can't really have X no of other stuff "hanging about", i.e. the device need be named "<The Device>" and
not Soundflower, if you know what I mean.
So... what other choices are there ? What about the user-mode driver thingy ? I'd rather not tamper with kernel-space unless
absolutely needed.
TIA
/Rob
