Remember the rule of thumb: don't optimize things unless you're convinced they're a bottleneck :)

Wow I would have thought it would be better to reduce the number of callbacks.  Is it just as slow to enable/disable the bus inputs to a mixer unit?  I was not thinking of starting / stopping the whole graph.
