Well, there's audio and there's MIDI. They probably mean that RG's uses ALSA MIDI even when it uses JACK for audio. This is a deeper question and we should probably discuss it away from this list. The short story is that JACK can handle both MIDI and audio, and that JACK MIDI has significant benefits for cases where MIDI is used to drive audio synthesis, but some notable benefits when its used for other purposes.
