I found soundtouch to be OK with monophonic input material, but quite "artifactual" with more complex material. That's why Ardour nows uses Rubber Band instead of soundtouch. RB is GPL'ed, however (though proprietary licensing is available). One day I'd like to add back the option to use soundtouch's WSOLA algorithm in Ardour, but its not high on the list of priorities.
