IOPanic depreciated?

Hey All,
I just noticed that the function IOPanic in IOLib.h is marked as depreciated, but straight panic doesn't appear to be. What's going on? Is this just to consolidate everything to one API (for simplicity) or is something more interesting going on? Where should I turn for my future kernel crashing needs?
