This is due to a bug in the X11 which shipped with Leopard.

While not yet an official release from Apple, there is an update available
through Apple's efforts with the open source community. You can get it
from <http://xquartz.macosforge.org/>.


Alternatively, until an official update for Leopard is available, you can
install the version of X11 from Tiger. Directions for this can be found
at <http://lists.apple.com/archives/x11-users/2007/Nov/msg00005.html>


(Note that there is an x11-users list which is the best source for X11
information on Leopard.)
