Out of curiosity, if the differences are so small, then why keep them different? Is there a slightly-more-optimised widget-driver in there that makes the difference? Or is it something that validates the kernel as retail, but doesn't really do anything else?
Think about it. If there's code that's not released, you can assume it's not something that can be talked about.
There aren't any drivers per se in the kernel proper, and there aren't any "optimised" algorithms in the retail vs. DIY kernel.
