I'm trying to get a handle on what the issue is here. All this discussion of "mounting" made me think that the .dmg wasn't actually mounting. But I just checked that and the 10.10 KDK disk image mounts just fine on OS X 10.9.5.
Is the problem that the .dSYM files are embedding in an installer? And thus you can't access them directly once you've mounted the .dmg?
