- Thread-topic: [Fed-Talk] First no iMacs at DOD labs next no powerbooks?
I have been meaning to discuss this same topic on the list, it's good to
know I wasn't the only one concerned about this. When I was in DC yesterday
this very topic came up, we were discussing cell phones, other PCs and the
potential for the new Powerbooks to integrate a camera. It's been a while
but I used to have some Sony Vaios with a camera built in above the LCD, it
would swivel around so it was very useful for mobile video conferencing (I
worked at First Virtual Communications, formally known as CUSeeMe Netowkrs,
White Pine software, now part of Radvision).
I might be wrong but I seem to remember the camera could be easily removed
and a holder put in it's place if you didn't want it on the laptop. This
could be a viable approach to meet the needs of users who would like one
while not limiting DoD, or commercial adoption in those places which have
concerns over integrated cameras.
