My name is Nate Cobb and I am responsible for the Army for Apple. I have some information about plans for FY07 in USAREUR.

Please feel free to contact me via email or phone.

You should talk to the people that make the Army Golden Master for Windows
platforms. They are also working on an Apple Army Golden Master, and do
have the same requirements for update servers.

My quest to add Macs to the US Army Europe (USAREUR) networks continues...

The local G6 (signal/computer) personnel are saying all computers on the
USAREUR networks require an update server, to scan the clients and push out
patches. Since there isn't a Mac server on the USAREUR network we can't add
Macs to the network. And since there are so few Macs within USAREUR they
won't support a Mac server. A Catch 22 I've even offered up a Mac G4 they
can use as a limited server for updates. Plus offered to manage it. But no
luck. I really think they just don't want to support, perhaps due to a lack
of knowledge on Mac and UNIX systems. Or perhaps just plain lack luster
support.

I'm trying to find out how many other Mac users within USAREUR may be facing
the same road blocks. If I can show there is a community of Mac users
needing network connection perhaps I can try and convince the USAREUR G6 we
need support.

Another option is finding a Mac server within the Army that can push
updates, even if it's within CONUS.

If you have any info or ideas please let me know!
