Maybe someone on this list has had this type requirement before. We
record our local new cast each day to DV tape and then import and edit
in Final Cut Pro. We perform this service for our local PAO office and
when there is a news story relating to Redstone we produce a DVD for
them.
Several years ago I bought an EyeTV product hoping to record
directly to
our hard drives on our MACs. The quality at that time was not that
good
so I dropped that idea.
Question is has anyone had recent experience with the Elgato EyeTV
products or some other product they would recommend.
Are you doing this recording live, or after the fact?
Why not just record directly into the Mac via DV over FireWire, using
something like:

You can record directly into QuickTime, iMovie, or any other tool that
understands QuickTime. Then you can compress either in software, or
much more quickly using something like Elgato's Turbo.264:

There is no reason to get an EyeTV involved in this process...
