Netcom says Macs are OK, but defers to local DOIM.
Local DOIM says OK, but defers to Directorate Commanders.
This Directorate said, that's nice, we don't (like) want Macs.
Barred Macs from the network.
On counter-argument they are effectively Unix based, and there are Unix
servers on-site,
OK'ed Unix servers, barred Unix workstations.
Also cited lack of centralized management tools.
Then blocked access to Apple software downloads - reason:
shareware/freeware.
QT blocked as Streaming Media, and iTunes is blocked for MP3 site.

I was telling a friend of mine who works in our DOIM about the Gold
master for Macs that should be released by the Army sometime this year .
After a few minutes she told me I needed to be careful what I wish for
because that sounds like to her that they would take control of our Macs
just as they have down with the PCs. They would control what software is
downloaded to our Macs and other things.
Anyone got any thoughts on how this may play out?
Thanks
