I've stopped looking at the unending "connecting" message when getting mail, because it appears to connect and get mail just fine in spite of that.

Unfortunately for me, getting email has always been problematic under both 3.0 (and earlier I think) and 3.1 (I have Push turned off). That is when I got into the habit of rebooting my iPhone -- after two failed attempts to get email in the morning, a reboot appeared to help. AT&T service is pretty spotty here. Sometimes even with full bars an alert window pops up saying it cannot connect to the data network.

Question: Do the people with battery problems under iPhone 3.1 have a history of poor data connectivity over AT&T as well (including back in 3.0)?

It may be that spotty AT&T data service combined with 3.1 is causing problems.

Todd
