Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] DOJ Standards
Nathan,
If you are looking for a solutions where AV defs are obtained from a centralized server you may consider McAfee with ePO server. The agents acquire the virus definitions from the ePO server. If your Leopard Server is a robust config you can run the ePO console inside a Windows Server VM. I would use VMware solutions for this task.
For configuration guidance, SDCC is a precursor to a FDCC for Mac. Finalized settings should be almost done. I don’t want to talk out of turn here so I will leave that to SDCC folks spearheading the effort that may be on the list.
I take it you are implementing WGM/MCX for policy control/management? Faronics can return your systems to a baseline state without connection to a centralized console system as well.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] DOJ Standards
First time post here. I have been reading for about a year now. I am an Admin for a small network for the Print Factory in FCI Sandstone which is part of Federal Prison Industries, aka UNICOR. I have 10 Mac clients Leopard 10.5.8, 1 Leopard Server 10.5.8 running OD, and 2 XP boxes. My network DOES NOT have internet access and never will. I been running this network for 2 years now and learned a lot with it.
My number one goal is security with the Inmates Users network accounts. Since last fall when UNICOR's Central Office in DC IT Dept found out that I have setup my own network, they been training me to use DOJ Standards. We all know that any Government Standards are written for the Windows. Central Office wants me to install Anti-Virus of some kind. I tried using ClamXAV on my Mac and it uses a lot of Memory up. After a scan, I only have 20 megs left out of 2 gigs. Does anyone know of a good Anti-Virus software that can be updated without access in the internet? Also, Is there a way to "hide" or "read only" the Hard Drive from my Inmates Accounts? I tried using Simple Finder but its too limited.
Thanks for reading...
