You don't hear about problems in other countries because they are mostly
saturated with GSM. Every other country with the iPhone is significantly
smaller in land area than the US, and has multiple GSM carriers with decent
roaming agreements in place.
I for one have had an iPhone since day one and have never dropped a call -
except when I forget and walk into places where it should not work
(basements, elevators, etc...) I live in the DC area, so I figure that AT&T
has exceptional coverage all along the 95 corridor.
I have had some issues while camping in Colorado, but didn't really fault
AT&T for not providing good coverage at 8,500ft... Though I could get a call
in some spots, my Sprint BB had the same problem, and get worse reception at
home.
