What is interesting is that the managed routers, especially Cisco, are really special purpose PCs. I say “PCs” because they have contracted some of the same viruses during the same outbreak that hammered Windows systems… same executable & code base actually infected the Cisco “hardware”. Sometimes an unmanaged “dumb” switch is better :-)
My college mentor would frequently say “Software and Hardware are tautologically equivalent”. How true.
