Interesting. But if the daemon was stopped, it may not be representative of the database imploding.
What happens if you change the permissions on the database to 000 while Outlook is running?
chmod 000 ~/Documents/Microsoft\ User\ Data/Main\ Identity/Office\ 2011\ Identities/Main\ Identity/Database
Does Outlook crash and burn?
