I got different results. I kept sending myself emails with attachments until the database grew to 100M (no time to get it to 1G today). Then, with Outlook open, I changed permissions of the Database to 000.
I was able to keep sending and receiving emails with attachments. No problem.
I exited Outlook. No problem.
I launched Outlook. Problem. A new "Main Identity 1" folder shows up, with a smaller Database (21M), and all my mail is gone in Outlook.
I quit Outlook one more time, delete "Main Identity 1" folder, change permissions on the original Database file, relaunch Outlook. Everything is back to normal.
This indicates to us that if/when the Database file implodes (possible and quite probable), it will cause the above to happen.
Hello Helpdesk calls.
Microsoft. Fail. Again.
