Re: RE: [Fed-Talk] "If an Ipad hooked up with a Macbook"
All you have to do is imagine it for awhile. Open your current laptop
and think about holding your arm up to a vertical screen for hours on
end moving the mouse around. "Ain't gonna happen"
Even if you don't do a vertical screen, look at Apple's design. Do you
really think they'd build a "flippy around" laptop screen? Really? No
way. I had one of those once, hated it, and mostly never used it like a
tablet.
That's why MobileMe is there. Everything is the same. You can be
working on your laptop, then get up, grab your iPad and go to a meeting.
Come back from your meeting, throw your iPad on the desk, go to lunch,
where you have your iPhone. Everything is the same. No matter where
you go, and on what device.
The small Macbook Air is built for travelers. It's for light use, email
and email browsing. That's it.

Extant (and past) convertibles on the market rely pretty much exclusively on the latter design. I conjecture that this is, at least in part, because *in laptop configuration* using the touchscreen--which qualifies as a vertical touchscreen--is too difficult and uncomfortable for anything longer than a few minutes.
