I should have added, because of the need to carry a power cord and yet another device the customers decided not to use the hubs but instead knew that they would plug in the network dongle second. Basically they saw the hub as a burden so it was eliminated as an option before any real usage occurred. Basically not enough information to determine if it was a long term fix due to non-technical reasons.

In some cases we supplied a powered USB hub which seemed to solve the problem but it defeated the purpose of the MBA.

If this is the problem, I would suspect that connecting the devices via a powered USB hub would make the problem go away. Has anyone who has had this problem tried this?
