I think that's the wrong direction to spend attention on, especially since Mozilla and Apple both blocked the plug-in.
I'd recommend instead leaning on Oracle to make sure that their Java development team addresses these vulnerabilities as quickly as possible.

No matter how ugly it is, and how awful the risks of allowing Java applets, we're stuck with at least a few DoD sites like DTS requiring it. And Apple is going to be able to act a heck of a lot faster that we'll be able to see those sites redesigned or replaced.
