Consider trying the "ClickToPlugin" Safari extension. I've been using the
ClickToFlash version for a while (which is a subset of ClickToPlugin
targeting only Flash) and recently started using the full ClickToPlugin. It
lets you block some or all browser plugins until you click on them, and you
can also whitelist certain sites.
