FWIW, I'll recommend an even different tact - pushing for (funding?)
a cross-browser standard for digital signature of form contents, and
make the applets which we all presently rely on yesterday's
headache.
Java is the next Flash; the question is - how will we sign our
documents online when it's gone?

I think that's the wrong direction to spend attention on,

I'd recommend instead leaning on Oracle to make sure that
their Java development team addresses these vulnerabilities as
quickly as possible.

No matter how ugly it is, and how awful the
risks of allowing Java applets, we're stuck
with at least a few DoD sites like DTS
requiring it. And Apple is going to be able
to act a heck of a lot faster that we'll be
able to see those sites redesigned or
replaced.
