Well, the first step would be to enable diskarbitrationd debugging,
as described in Technote 2124 "Mac OS X Debugging Magic".
<http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2124.html#SECDISKARB>
That is an amazing document. I think I knew about it, but didn't
realize how broad it was.
Anyway, turning on diskarbitrationd debugging does nothing to help me
find what is wrong because it does nothing when plugging in a
firewire drive.
So'm reading the I/O Kit documentation on developer.apple.com, but it
is kinda long, and it may take me awhile to find the information I
need to figure out what to do. (Maybe I just need to understand how
IOKit works before I can do anything anyway).
Anyway, thanks for the help. If you know of anything else I should
be reading/trying or if there is a better list to ask, I would
appreciate it.
James
