Please help me to analyze this problem. Thanks in Advance.

What he is saying is that Apple have changed how Installer works, and they have removed the Upgrade feature.

Never said that or wanted to imply that. They haven't. They just removed the Upgrade label which is not such a bad move:

- There were localizations issues in the past (button not wide enough)

- It was sometimes not obvious which label should be used.

- It could be confusing to users. And anyway, it's Installer.app, not Upgrader.app.

IMO, Apple Installer is not reliable for 3rd party use, and is fundamentally flawed. If you need such features, then consider using a 3rd party installer such as Installer VISE X, or a custom made one.

I've been using the Apple package solution for 6 years and I don't think that the first word that would come to my mind is flawed. It used to be less flexible than it is today but things are improving.

Maybe it does not include all the features that you can find in Installer VISE X or InstallShield or the ones you could put into a custom made one. But I know one thing for sure, when I'm installing a package with Installer.app, I don't feel the urge to shoot myself contrary to my experience so far with multiple installers on Windows or Linux.

The final end user experience with Installer.app is quite good. And I think that at the end of the days, that's what matters the most.
