So my question is can we launch the app from our installer package
when it is run so as to dispense with the "first run" dialog PITA
during the installation process?
I don't remember where I've read that and don't remember the
solution but it was something related to extended attributes that
you had to modify after installation is completed.
Thanks Stéphane,
I found xattr -d com.apple.quarantine …
But I couldn't find any extended attributes in our app, either in a
post-flight script during the installation process nor after restart.
What was a help was to use lsregister in the script. This avoids the
double restart problem to get the file icons appearing correctly.
Bottom line is that the "first run" dialog still appears and that's
not desirable.
I can't fathom the logic where the app is installed requiring admin
permission, run, but the OS still presents the blasted dialog on
restart.
Why should we get that behavior when obviously, the user has consented
to the install?
BTW, I'm using Xcode 3.0/ 10.5.3. I haven't used PackageMaker.app
since about 10.3. I like the new interface design but the app seems
to have a few problems retaining my settings and crashed a few
times. Are there any known issues you can clue me in on?
- Editing in raw mode can crash the application.
- Bundle Search gets enabled by default.
- Metapackage can not be created with the command line tool.
- External scripts can't be used.
- Requirements settings are not correctly built in multiple cases.
- Some options such as overwrite permissions are not supported.
- You can't easily reorder packages.
+ some other bugs received off list. :-(
