What's this "diverting" thing, and why does it choose to do it with

Check the built package and look for a relocator. This could be an explanation.

What does a relocator look like?

something like this:

<locator-info edited="true">
<token title="pkmk-token-50">
<search-rule><combo identifier="com.att.graphviz" default- path="/Applications/Graphviz.app"/></search-rule>
</token>
</locator-info>
