This makes more sense. I googled it/search apple docs and what's out
there seems to agree that this is a SecurityAgent process. Thanks for
the clarification :)

It's not the Finder that displays the Authentication window. It's the
SecurityAgent process.
Anyway, best solution is to logout then login.
