The install I'm working on is targeted to OS X 10.5, which means it is using the new format. It is a flat installation package.
Pre build, I haven't found the correct XML file entries to modify to get the package to build with the desired names. If anyone knows these, I'd be grateful.
Post build, the install package can be opened in Flat Package Editor. An entry in the file "Distribution" needs to be modified and the included package needs to be renamed.
Andrew, in the 10.5 format, the generated package name seems to come from the source file, minus the extension. For example, MyAppClient.plist generates a package called myappclient.pkg.

You can change the name of the packages, not from PackageMaker.
You have 2 solutions:
- you can edit the XML project files directly with a text editor (not
the easiest solution).
- you can edit the metapackages after build. You must change the name
of a package for both the package and its reference in the
distribution script or Info.plist of the metapackage.
