And you will handle all the correct behaviors on OS 10.4, 10.5, and
10.6, each of which deals with pkg receipts differently?
And of course your new pkg format/software installer won't work with
any organization that has a mass deployment solution in place, so you
won't win any friends in enterprise or large education environments.

Why do you want to do this?
Well, the Installer.app and PackageMaker are not the best
applications. There are some bugs
Apple is not willing to fix for a few years now. There are also some
things that can't be done.
So I was thinking about writing an application, that will install my
software, but have the look and
feel of Apple's installer and will also create package receipts as
is a good manner on Mac OS
as far as i know.
I have all the peaces except for the one. How to create a file
suitable for pkgutil --import-plist
from a bom file. I want the receipt to hold correct user/access
rights for every installed file
so e.g. pkgutil --repair can be used if needed.

Hi list,
I'd like to ask whether there is an easy way how to convert BOM file
to a .plist file format suitable for using with pkgutil --import-
plist.
Or is there a way how to create a receipt directly from a BOM file?
I've read man pages, google and search archives but haven't
found any answer.
Thanks a lot,
Jakub
