I'd call this *abuse*. ;)

*IF* it is necessary to keep information in IC for your application, this
information should only be a longword, some kind of ID/setting (a key for
instance), which is also represented in the application's setting file.
-If you need location-specific preferences, Apple made a cool API
(including demo-plugins) for writing Apple Location Manager modules.
You can even write your own module for existing applications if they do
not offer an ALM module already.
-Most developers just didn't reach this point yet; the technology is
brilliant and simple.

And me too. I'd be happy to provide both ObjC and C++ interfaces for it,
if you need something other than the existing C interfaces. I wrote an
ObjC interface already.
